Many of you liked one of my “Osacim”-photos very much in which i used a cinematic color grading. You told me, that you loved that processing so i thought, it might be nice to give you my original PSD so you can see which techniques i used to achieve theses tones. It’s really no rocket-science again!
But i should also say, that i used a flash to help myself with the light situation. I fired the flash from right trhough a “shoot-through” umbrella. Moreover there was a livingroom-lamp as some fill light. I shot the scene from outside through a window to get some reflections into the photo. This is a little illustration of the whole light-scene:
The basic processing was done with a photoshop-action from Pierre Eszes, called “Color Injection”. You can download this action + tutorial here. With this action you can achieve some nice and creamy tones in your photo and it can be adjusted very easy! For sure i made my own adjustemts, you can see them in the PSD. Afterward i only used some adjustment-layers to give the whole scene that cinematic look. I pushed the shadows to blue and the highlights so yellow, i used a curve to give the shadows a milky tint, some sharpening… that’s it!
Have fun with it!

Hey Hiacynta,

Just the tutorial I was looking for. I tried it on one of my pictures and it came out amazing. Easy to follow for someone learning Photoshop. Keep up the good work and make more tutorials!!

Super Look! Jetzt bräuchte man das ganze nur noch als Photoshop-Aktion. :)

Hopefully you can help. The Pierre Eszes, called “Color Injection” is no longer available on the net and the instructions to make it are incorrect. Even when I downloaded the finished PSD copy you supplied and tried to recreate it from the finished copy, something doesn’t work. Images still look too washed out. I’ve tried at least 20 times so far. Can you supply a new link to the “Color Injection” action on your page, but let everyone know who created it first so you don’t get in trouble? Thank you!

After multiple tries I finally got it and was able to save it as a new action. Thanks for a great tutorial.
